Land Remediation
The Project

Ogilvie Construction, entrusted with the prestigious £18.2 million project to construct a cutting-edge student accommodation facility for the University of Stirling, encountered a crucial challenge at the selected brownfield site. Recognising the complexity of the task at hand, ATG Group was chosen to perform the earthworks to achieve the required levels and ensure stability.

With our expertise in land remediation and sustainable solutions, we ensured the site meet the required standards, setting the stage for an innovative living and learning environment at the University of Stirling.

The Challenge

With extensive excavations required for this project, a staggering 14,400 tonnes of material had to be removed from the site. This included a mixture of hazardous, non-hazardous and inert materials and opting for a traditional dig and dump approach would have cost our client over £400,000.

Our objective was to find a solution that would allow us to reclassify the waste material as inert and reduce costs for our client.

The Solution

We implemented Earth Engineering techniques to change the consistency of the hazardous and non-hazardous material, transforming it into an inert state. This innovative approach resulted in significant cost savings for our client. Moreover, we treated most of the material on-site, further maximising savings.
